Hi! My name is Melissa Boyer. I have been a high school math teacher for 10 years and have been forced to take a year off. During this time off I decided to finally finish my Master's. I have very much enjoyed spending all this free time with my two beautiful boys; Ethan, who is 6, and Riley, who is 16 months. I have even been able to be a room mother, which I thought would never happen being a teacher. I have been married for 10 years to my high school sweetheart. Any free time I have I love to play Family Feud on Facebook. I tried Farmville for a while and got bored.
The last book I read for me was a while ago. I read the last Harry Potter book. I believe that was about 3 or 4 years ago. I loved the book so much I read it in 2 weeks. That is impressive for me. I really started reading it because of the movies. The action really drew me in and I could not put the book down. If anyone likes the movies and have not read the books I suggest reading the books. As always the books have so much more in them than the movies.
I really have not read that much for pleasure ever. I used to read Stephen King for fun. I pretty much stopped reading for fun when I started having kids. I now get to enjoy reading books about Thomas and Captain Underpants. I hope I can instill the joy of reading more in my kids than I feel.
Hmmm, Stephen King for fun? There's something wrong with you :):) I can't stand scary movies/books/just anything really. I always feel like the bad guy's under my bed! :) I love math too! Was going to do math ed. but changed my mind. I'm glad you're making good use of the 1 year off!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had the opportunity to spend that early time with your children. Fortunately, I was also able to do that. Now they are grown and on their own. Seems like yesterday that they were babies, so enjoy the time!
ReplyDeleteI only like some scary movies but Stephen King just draws me in. I always loved the looks I would get in college when I was asked my major. I would tell them math ed and I would always get the ewww look. It was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! Great "seeing" you again, I can't remember if we were in the same Intro class or Communications last semester! I'm with Savitri on the scary ANYTHING...yuck! Anything that looks or sounds like it could actually happen just freaks me out! I don't like to be scared!! Enjoy those "babies", I can't believe kindergarten is almost 1/2 over!! :(
ReplyDeleteI don't like scary movies there is no way I could read one of Stephen King's books.
ReplyDeleteI have not had as much time to read grown up books since I had kids. I think being a parent and a teacher brings out the kid in me.
ReplyDeleteI read one of Stephen King's books and had nightmares, seriously. I don't like scary movies or books, I'm such a wuss, hehe.
ReplyDeleteI was forced into the scary movies. My husband loves them and did not give me a choice. He kept making me watch them until I started to like them. One thing thought I will not go into haunted houses. I truly have injured my friends just trying to get out of them.
